Welcome to Pocherohan sa Banawa, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Cebu City. This Filipino restaurant has become a beloved spot among locals, renowned for its authentic and affordable dishes, primarily its exceptional pochero. Located at the intersection of Rosalina Village and R. Duterte St, Pocherohan sa Banawa is a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of home-cooked goodness.
As you step inside, prepare for a charming yet bustling atmosphere, especially during lunchtime when the aroma of rich, savory broth fills the air. Local diners flock here for a reason: the pochero is simply one of the best in Cebu. With its tender meat, perfectly cooked vegetables, and flavorful broth, this dish is a nostalgic delight that transports many to the kitchens of their grandmothers. Customer reviews highlight the fantastic balance of flavors, with each sip of broth warming your soul—truly, a reminder of comfort food at its finest.
The portions at Pocherohan sa Banawa are generous and ideal for sharing, making it perfect for families or friends gathering to enjoy a meal. If you’re dining solo, don’t worry—there are single serving options available that satisfy those cravings without overwhelming your appetite. The lechon kawali, crispy and juicy, further enhances your dining experience. Patrons rave about its crunch and the complementary rice, creating a satisfying combination that keeps them coming back for more.
Despite the limited space, the vibrant energy of regular customers adds to the ambiance, making each visit feel welcoming. Popularity also means that the restaurant can run out of food quickly—arriving before 11 am is your best bet to enjoy the full offerings without the wait. While part of the charm includes the small, cozy nature of the place—and yes, every now and then, the unexpected presence of a fly—the delicious, home-cooked flavors more than compensate for such inconveniences.
In conclusion, Pocherohan sa Banawa is not just a place to eat; it’s an experience that offers a taste of tradition and a sense of community. Whether you’re indulging in a hot bowl of pochero or sharing a crispy platter of lechon kawali, this restaurant gives you more than just a meal—it offers a satisfying journey back to the flavors of home.

Very affordable yet one of the best tasting pochero in Cebu. This gets super crowded with locals every lunchtime, so one will need to arrive before 11am if the goal is to eat conveniently.

Serving is actually good for sharing like the lechon kawali which is crunchy and juicy at the same time! They serve rice and also mais that goes very well with their pochero. Price is very affordable. Place is really small and with lots of regular customers, the food may ran out even just a little after 12 noon!

This here is one of my favorite low-key pocherohan, delicous and affordable. What I like about this place is that they offer a single serving pochero and lechon kawali which is ideal for lone individuals who wants to satisfy their cravings. The last time we came here it was 3pm and it was hot, also there were a lot of flies but fortunately the food was worth it and the flies didn’t ruin the whole experience.

First tried their Sinigang weeks ago, when the Pochero was sold out already (around 8pm). Tonight, I came early and have ordered their pochero. The sinigang which I tried first (65 pesos, solo order) is a 9/10 given that I am a sinigang boy. You can clearly taste the home-cooked style, compared to fancy restaurants where they rush-cook the food they make. The pochero (65 pesos as well for solo order), on the other hand, was a 9/10 too. I tried the pochero at Gate 5 which is also great, but this pochero also has something amazing to offer. Although oily to look at, you can taste how the broth kicked into your tongue, bringing a specific kind of warmness, like that of a warm soup back home when my late lola used to cook when we apos visit her every weekend. The cabbage isn't overcooked and the meat is soo tender it melts in your mouth. Definitely a place to go again. Kudos

Very affordable and delicious. The serving of pochero is almost good for 2 persons. They also have a great lechon kawali. I recommend this.
